The Old English Sheepdog or “Bobtail” (has also been known as the Sussex
Sheepdog and the Smithfield) is a native of the southern counties of England
however no record exists of his exact breeding but it is believed that he is derived
from the native collie type and the South Russian Ovcharka,..
He is a large biddable dog of great inelegance, although sometimes it might not
seem it, he is by history a working dog who needs plenty of exercise and not
restricted to a high rise flat, cleanliness is of high on the list of needs for this breed
they need regular brushing, not just on the surface but right down to the skin to
clear any matt's or knots, the ears need cleaning and dead hair frequently
removed, nails clipped and hair and mats trimmed between the pads, checking
for grass seeds etc, when grooming be gentle and do not pull on his coat
